At New Chapter, we teach Science through our exciting, practical and engaging creative curriculum themes. We strongly believe that children learn best through engagement in real-life and practical experiences, where links between learning can be made and to excite the children to want to know more about the world around them.

Enquiry based learning is at the heart of our scientific learning. In Science, throughout the school, the children develop their subject knowledge of living things, materials and physical processes in the world around them.  As well as studying different topics, the children are given lots of opportunities to develop their ‘working scientifically’ skills by asking questions, performing tests/investigations, classifying and grouping objects, making observations, gathering and recording data and drawing conclusions from their results.

To support our exciting Science curriculum, we use our extensive school grounds, outdoor learning areas and garden to learn about living things and physical processes around us. Throughout the year, to enhance the teaching of Science, we organise visits and visitors to come into school during topics to extend our learning and we celebrate National Science Week in March.
