As they entered school on the first day of the new term, there was a surprise awaiting Class 7. The classroom was not how they had left it. A window had been broken, furniture was upturned and there were dirty footprints all over the floor. To make matters worse, the classroom clock was missing. How would we get to assembly on time? How would we know when it was lunchtime? Even worse, how would we know when it was home time? To launch our new topic on code breakers and finding patterns in the creative curriculum we quickly and enthusiastically turned ourselves into crime scene investigators in order to solve the mystery. We made police hats and badges and, using our mathematical skills and powers of deduction, we children deciphered codes throughout the week to work out who broke in, what they used to break the window and where the clock was hidden. Excellent team-work and super sleuthing meant that we solved the mystery. We discovered that Grabber Dan had broken the window with his bag of loot and hidden the clock in Mrs Normanton’s classroom.
